2009 International Conference on Applied Strength and Conditioning Call for Papers

The ASCA Invites submission of research papers for Poster Presentations at this years conference.  The aim is to provide opportunities for presentation of new research knowledge for Conference delegates as well as the opportunity for researchers and students to present their work and receive feedback from some of the most highly respected and knowledgeable Strength and Conditioning Coaches from both here in Australia and overseas.

Level 3 Elite Coaching Course

The ASCA is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitable candidates to apply for a position in the ASCA Level 3 Elite Coaching Course proposed to be held on the Gold Coast 16-22nd November.  

Course numbers are limited as the philosophy of the course is to provide an intensive coach development program for coaches in all areas of strength and conditioning.

Introduction to Child and Youth Resistance Training DVD

The ASCA is proud to announce the release of a new DVD "Progressing the Difficulty of Body-Weight Exercises for Child and Youth Resistance Training".  This DVD has been produced as an aid to coaches and teachers concerned with training of child and youth athletes and illustrates how to progress the difficulty of body-weight exercises.  In an easy to understand and applied manner this DVD explains and demonstrates how to progress the difficulty of six key exercise groups via six methods other than traditional training variable manipulations.

The ASCA Position Stand - Resistance Training for Children and Adolescents

The ASCA Position Stand - Resistance Training for Children and Youth was developed to provide as much clarity and guidance as possible to assist coaches in designing resistance training programs for children and youth at various stages throughout their development Hence this document develops a number of age related sample programs, proposes age and function specific progressions in training and describes the actual first hand experiences of highly trained athletes who have performed intense resistance training during their youth.

The Australian Strength and Conditioning Association is the industry and national peak body for Strength and Conditioning in Australia. It was established in 1992 to look after the interests of Strength and Conditioning Coaches in Australia and to give the industry a voice in discussions and negotiations with service providers.

It is the professional / educational body for strength and conditioning in Australia. Coach education is a central component of the functions of the ASCA this is conducted through accreditation courses, updating seminars and through the ASCA official journal "Journal of Australian Strength and Conditioning".
