2008 National Conference & Trade Show

Welcome to the Official Website of the 2008 National Conference and Trade Show.

"The ASCA National Conference and Trade Show - Tips from the Top - Raising the Bar" will include a number of presentations from Coaches who have worked with our Olympic Athletes some of whom have brought home Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in a variety of sports. 

The only presentation in Australia this year of the FR700 Power System that has been used by numerous international sporting institutes in achieveing successess at the 2008 Olympics will be one of the many other presentations at the ASCA Conference on the Gold Coast in November.

2008 Level 3 Elite Coaching Course

The ASCA will again host the Level 3 Elite Coaching Course in conjunction with the 2008 National Conference and Trade Show.  The format used for the first time in 2007 which incorporates 3 days of intensive elite level theory and practical sessions followed by 2 days of attendance at the National Conference where Level 3 Candidates are involved in the interactive workshops conducted during the Conference.

Expressions of Interest are now called for prospective Level 3 Candidates.

ASCA Professional Coaching Structure

The ASCA Pro Structure has been created to identify individuals who possess the qualifications and experience to design and implement safe and effective strength and conditioning programs for athletes either in an individual or team environment.  By adopting this Professional Coaching Structure, ASCA Professional Coaches will be distinguished from the weekend part time strength and conditioning coach, many of who have no qualifications and little experience in the field. It will also provide opportunity to negotiate appropriate remuneration for their professional services.

The ASCA Position Stand - Resistance Training for Children and Adolescents

ASCA Media Release:

One of the most asked questions from parents, coaches and young athletes that come through the National Office is in relation to resistance training for children and adolescents.  In response to these numerous questions the ASCA has launched the first ASCA Position Statement at the 2007 National Conference and Trade Show ---- "ASCA Position Stand - Resistance Training for Children and Youth".   Read more..

World Anti Doping Coach's Tool Kit

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is the international independent organization created in 1999 to promote, coordinate and monitor the fight against doping in sport in all its forms. The Agency is composed and funded equally by the sports movement and governments of the world. Its key activities include scientific research, education, out-of-competition testing, development of anti-doping capacities and monitoring of the World Anti-Doping Code - the first document harmonizing regulations regarding anti-doping in all sports and all countries.


In order to increase access to it's education tools WADA has developed "The Coach's Tool Kit".

Updating Provider Program and Application

The ASCA has more than 5000 accredited strength and conditioning coaches in Australia as well as a number of coaches who reside and work overseas.  As a condition of maintaining their accreditation coaches must undertake a number of activities annually over a 4 year period.  These are called Updating Hours/Points.  If you wish to find out how to have your course/activity accredited as an Updating Activity of the ASCA..... ASCA Logo
The Australian Strength and Conditioning Association is the industry and national peak body for Strength and Conditioning in Australia. It was established in 1992 to look after the interests of Strength and Conditioning Coaches in Australia and to give the industry a voice in discussions and negotiations with service providers.

It is the professional / educational body for strength and conditioning in Australia. Coach education is a central component of the functions of the ASCA this is conducted through accreditation courses, updating seminars and through the ASCA official journal "Journal of Australian Strength and Conditioning".
